Audience Filters

Target exactly the right contacts for each campaign.

Audience filters let you pick exactly who gets your campaign message. You can be as broad or as specific as you want.

Available filters

FilterExample
TagsContacts tagged Hot Lead or Mumbai
StatusOnly Hot or Warm contacts
Lifecycle stageEveryone in Negotiation
Custom fieldContacts where "Customer Type" equals Retail
Template sentContacts who were (or weren't) sent a specific template before
Unread conversationsContacts with messages you haven't replied to
Added in last N daysNew contacts from the past 7 days

Custom field filters

If your workspace has custom fields, you can filter by any of them in the audience builder.

Add a Custom field condition and choose:

OperatorWhen to use
EqualsExact match — e.g. Customer Type = "Wholesale"
ContainsPartial match — e.g. City contains "Mumbai"
Is setContact has any value for this field
Is not setContact has no value for this field

This lets you build very precise audiences — for example, contacts where Budget is set AND Customer Type equals "Retail".

Match All vs Match Any

When you add more than one filter, you can choose:

  • Match All — contact must match every filter (AND logic)
  • Match Any — contact matches if they fit at least one filter (OR logic)

Example:

  • Match All: Tag = Hot Lead AND Status = Warm → only contacts who are both tagged Hot Lead AND have Warm status
  • Match Any: Tag = Hot Lead OR Status = Warm → anyone who is either a Hot Lead or has Warm status

Preview before sending

Always click Preview audience before launching. It shows you:

  • Total number of contacts who match
  • A sample of names so you can spot-check
  • For email campaigns: a View contacts popup showing names and emails

This way you never accidentally send to the wrong people.

Save as a segment

If you're going to use the same filter again, save it as a segment. Click Save as segment → give it a name. Next time, just pick it from the segment list instead of rebuilding the filter.

Email-specific rules

For email campaigns, contacts without an email address are automatically excluded from the audience — even if they match all your filters. Contacts with a bounced email address are also excluded.
